Semi-Permanent Brows: What You Need to Know

By 3rd March 2022Beauty

Is Microblading a Tattoo?

Tattoos last forever whereas microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing. The strokes aren’t as deep as a tattoo and the pigment used is very different.

The dye particles in microblading ink are less concentrated, which gives your eyebrows a softer and more realistic appearance.

Depending on your skin type, microblading can last anywhere from one to three years. However, after your first treatment, you should go back after 4 weeks for a touch-up. After that, you won’t need another touch-up for 12 months.

Who Can Have Microblading?

Microblading treatment is suitable for any skin tone with any shade range. At Ivory Taylor Hair and Beauty, we can create a custom colour using several shades to match your hair colour. This ensures your eyebrows looks real.

Even those who have lost their brows due to skin conditions can have semi-permanent brows.

Eyebrow Aftercare

In the next 10 days, your eyebrows will change colour, flake, and look as if they have faded. However, this is completely normal. After around 30 days, they will reveal their final colour. You must avoid picking and scratching.

During the first 7 days, gently wash your brows morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap. Then, gently pat dry. Do not use any cleansers containing acids or exfoliants. You should also:

  • Use a clean pillowcase
  • No facials, botox or peels for 4 weeks
  • Avoid exercise for a week
  • Avoid direct sunlight for a week
  • Avoid long, hot showers for 10 days
  • Don’t wear any makeup on your eyebrows until they have healed
