A Guide to Laser Treatments
Cosmetic laser treatments have been developed to treat a wide range of skin issues. For those who take skin treatments seriously, they are highly tempting. However, laser treatments require commitment, with a course of regular appointments offering better results.
Here at Ivory Taylor, we have over 20 years of experience in this field. This month’s blog offers a guide to cosmetic laser treatments. For further information, call our salon in Colchester on 01206 851770.
How Do Lasers Work?
Lasers have been used for aesthetic treatments for around 40 years now. Each laser works in similar ways, with different abilities. They work by firing a very narrow beam of light onto a certain area on the skin, while leaving the skin around it completely unharmed. Target molecules in the skin will absorb the light and convert it into heat.
If you are seeking laser treatment, the number of appointments vary depending on the type of treatment. For each session, you will be required to wear goggles to protect your eyes from the laser beam. During the sessions, you may feel some slight discomfort.
Types of Laser Treatments
There are several types of cosmetic laser treatments. Not one laser can treat all patients and skin concerns. The popularity of these treatments for common conditions have hugely increased and here at Ivory Taylor, we offer a wide range at our salon, including:
- Pigment Removal
- Red Vein Removal
- Permanent Hair Removal
- Skin Tightening
- Acne & Acne Scars

Pre-Treatment Consultation
At any clinic, you should be offered a thorough no-obligation consultation. This includes an assessment of your skin, medical history and current medications to confirm your suitability for treatment.
Moreover, it provides you the opportunity to ask questions, see examples and get an approximate cost for your sessions.
